Two weekends ago we set out on a road trip to track down some Super Bloom wild flowers. We ended up at Amboy Crater off Route 66 in the Mojave National Preserve. Lots of yellow and purple wildflowers growing amidst the black volcanic rock in this normally barren part of the desert.

Last time we were out at the Sand Box we located one of the many Petroglyph sites in the Mojave Desert. This one is located very near the Desert Megaphone and is quite impressive.

Last weekend I went to the Sand Box and our group got a private tour of a very cool and unique property….sorry no pictures allowed to be posted here but ask me in person and I will give you the run down!

I spent the weekend at the Sand Box and this time we explored the Rodman Mountain range. Very interesting area with an ancient lava field and canyon. Some of the black lava rock resembles what you would see in Hawaii.

I spent another great weekend in Newberry Springs. We drove thru Afton Canyon, explored Spooky Canyon and found the Desert Megaphone. Of course, the time at the Sand Box was amazing.
